Merger Details

Effective January 11, 2008, Canetic Resources Trust merged with Penn West Energy Trust with Penn West being the surviving company. Canetic unitholders received 0.515 units of Penn West for each unit of Canetic previously held. The exchange was completed on a tax-deferred basis unless the unitholder elected to have it done on a taxable basis.
