Closed-End Fund
Closed-End Fund: An investment vehicle created through an initial public offering. Specific assets held will be dependant upon the investment objectives established by the fund’s manager. Typical assets held by a Canadian closed-end fund may include common or preferred shares, convertible debentures, income and royalty trusts and other fixed income vehicles. A closed-end fund differs from an open-ended mutual fund in that it has a fixed number of units outstanding that trade on a major stock exchange.
